The SR 53 Westbound Bridge replacement over Lake Lanier was a 3-year-long design-build project that replaced an existing two-lane bridge over a 100-foot main channel of Lake Lanier. The new bridge is 1,180 feet long, 40 feet wide, and has 5,250 SY of bridge deck and 4,800 feet of structural steel beams that are 9 feet tall. The project provides a challenge to our team with the design moving the location of the new bridge, significantly reducing the amount of work in Lake Lanier and impacts to adjacent neighborhoods.
